I live in Buffalo NY with my wife Robin and our two little boys, Bridger and Ash.

My main hobby is acting. Buffalo’s theater scene is just the right size for me: big enough to pay its actors, but small enough that most actors are part-time, and rehearse at night. Here’s my current acting resume.

I especially love performing and teaching comedic improv in the more artsy, “longform” style. If you’ve never seen longform improv, give it a try; it’s quite different from what you probably picture as improv.

The main causes I champion, in approximate order, are:

• Effective altruism, as in The Life You Can Save and 80,000 Hours.
• Civil liberties and digital rights, especially post-Ferguson and post-Snowden.
• US campaign finance reform, as in Lawrence Lessig’s Rootstrikers.
• Free and open-source software, such as Linux and LibreOffice.
